I am doing family history and have learned that while visiting his Aunt (Anne Brown), a young girl came to their door looking for her father, my grandfather...Samuel Stanley Knowles. My Father cannot recall this girls name but I am told her mother is Italian and the mother was married to my grandfather for a short time. If you have any information on this please email me at

I have found family in Trail but I am sad to say they met with a tragic accident. But without the help of Sarah ( sorry don't know your surname) I wouldn't have known the full story. I would love to come and visit, and perhaps if I can find some living relations, that have had a little more luck in avoiding 40,000 volts, I will make it!!

Hi! Great website! It has helped out alot. My grandparents, my cousins and I are going to Trail as part of a road trip to learn about our family history. My grandpa lived there, and so did alot of his relatives. I really love it there. Gabriella (one of my cousins), my grandma, my nonno (grandpa), and I are going to tour the smelter. Unfortunatly Ginnah (other cousin) can't come because she is to young. Anyways, my grandma had given us all questions about the history of Osoyoos, so i was looking to find when the smelter was build, and i came across this site. It is really helpful with the questions.

bye for now,

I was born in Trail on May 5, 1951 and left some time in 1954 for Alberta. I came back for a short visit in 1963 because my parents made me. I returned on my own with my wife of 37 years again in 2005. Of course I really did not remember very much but I locate my old house where I lived my first 3 years of my life. We enjoyed Trail very much and plan on returning very soon.

I have recently purchased the book "Trail of Memories" from the Trail Historical Society. How I wish that I had purchased this book a long time ago. It brings back many fond memories of families that I used to know and has so many interesting stories. I would say that this book is well worth reading!

Keep up the great work!

Great site!
I am tiring to find any infomation on an orphange in Trail. Is there any info available? My grandmother (Thelma Doris Middleton) was brought there as a infant, after her mothers death in 1919 and remained their until her teen yrs. Then from there I believe she joined her older sister, father Thomas D. Middelton. Who was working as a helper on a farm (Duncan) near bye.
I have hit all dead ends, and would love any info you can give :)
Thank you, Alina Miller

Having been born and raised in Trail I truly enjoy revisiting my home town and try to get HOME as often as I can. I no longer have family in Trail but still have many friends, there is no better place to have been raised than Trail.
