To the citizens of Trail - thank you so very much for your generous and extremely gracious welcome to your wonderful city! Celebrating the Smoke Eaters' contribution to sport and to the fabric of our province, we are very proud to have had an opportunity to display a few of the artifacts and share the stories of Trail's inducted members - the Smoke Eaters', Nancy Greene, Frenchy D'Amour to name just a few. This was the first community that we've come to in BC to display some of our collection from the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Thank you for providing us with a home to celebrate Trail's great accomplishments in sport in BC.

Hi ,Ireceived some information from Alan Salisbury who you helped to locate the family of John [ known to us as Jack ] Hand born 1887 and died in 1977. John was my great uncle, I would love to get in touch with any of the family still living in Trail, my email address is andrea.oreilly@btinternet.com I know that uncle Jack had 2 sons Charlie and Jack and I think maybe a daughter. I was told as a youngster that my great uncle Joe also emigrated to Canada he was born in1895.

I plan to visit Trail in July2010 to check on my roots. My father, Rolf Halvor Olsen was born in Trail on 9-4-1911 to Einar Augustinius Olsen and Laura Mathilde Nielsen Olsen. His parents immigrated from Norway with two older sisters, Rae and Borg. Einar worked in the lumber industry and the family moved to Nelson where my father attended high school, I think. The family later moved to San Jose,California. Any memories or contacts that I might follow up on would be greatly appreciated.

**WEBSITE ADMINISTRATOR'S NOTE** Patricia, please get in touch with us at history@trail.ca. I have located a birth announcement from the local paper for your father and would be happy to send it to you.

I have passed the information on, to the relatives in Harrop, B.C., your hard work is very much appreciated.

Looking for details on a relative who emigrated to Canada in July 1908, but don't have much to work with.
His name was JOHN HAND, born 30 July 1887, in Little Drayton, Shropshire, England.
I know he travelled back to UK in 1952 & 1960.
I have found a reference to a JOHN HAND, who died 26 Sept 1977, in TRAIL, BRITISH COLUMBIA.
Are there any living relatives in Trail, who can say if this JOHN HAND is my relative.
I have already found relations living in OTTAWA, so hoping to get lucky again this time.
Many thanks, Alan Salisbury.

**WEBSITE ADMINISTRATORS NOTE** - Alan, please do get in touch with us. I am sure we will be able to help you with this. Please email us at history@trail.ca.

This is a great site! A friend sent me a link, and I've been lost in the videos of the rich hockey tradition of Trail. Not sure if I have any family there, but maybe my research will lead me there some day. I'd be proud to have family there!
